Ok so I’m not immune to outside influences and I too have fallen prey to the ‘Green Renaissance’ sweeping our globe!

This leaves me to question is my art ‘Green’?

I do use precious white, non-recycled paper and my ink and paints are definitely not VOC free…Eeeeck!

But before I give up the business altogether…I can see (in a broader sense) that what I do is not necessarily that harmful to our beautiful planet.

Firstly I work from home (a nice saving on petrol and also much reduced carbon emissions).

I don’t use a lot of paper (due to the fact that I can only do so much by hand).

I don’t use a lot of paint, ink etc and so there is very little wastage (My work is all about controlled neatness -not large, lovely splashes of colour and dabs of texture).

Yay! I’m feeling a lot better...in fact I’m starting to feel rather cocky…could I be THE most ‘green’ artist out there?

Well no, I’m not falling into that trap!

I’ll keep my eye out for replacement materials that are more Eco friendly but until then I’m doing OK.

...and I suppose I can justify the use of paper and chemicals to create art which will last for centuries.
